 Another FREE FAITH GUIDING COURSE is starting soon for City of Leicester residents
The course is accredited to level 2 by the Institute of Tourist Guiding:   www.itg.org.uk and builds on our previous Introduction to Faith Tourism course.   It is aimed at people who already welcome, or wish to welcome, visitors to places or worship, or organise faith exhibitions/displays.  The course will increase their skills and understanding about the social and economic benefits visitors can bring.

The course is also open to people who have an interest in religion and belief and who would like to become faith guides.

Subjects covered will include:
  • Importance of faith in tourism
  • Presentation skills
  • Effective communication
  • Understanding your own and other faiths
  • How to make your place of worship more welcoming and accessible to increase visitor numbers
The course dates are as follows:

Course 2 Evenings - 6.00 - 9.00 pm
TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS, 26TH JUNE - 26TH JULY
and SATURDAY 28TH JULY 10.00 am - 4.30 pm

POSTGRADUATE COURSES IN INTER-RELIGIOUS RELATIONS

Applications are now being taken for the September 2012 intake.
Courses can be taken at Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or MA level and are suitable for
  • members of faith communities who have a practical or theoretical interest in relations with people of different faiths
  • those working for secular or religious agencies, private or public, where faith issues are significant
  • specialist ministers in inter-faith relations
  • anyone interested in extending their grasp of a lively field of enquiry
All teaching takes place at St Philip's Centre, and all courses are validated by De Montfort University.

*Prof T. Pawlikowski living in Chicago is a Servite priest and Professor of Social Ethics at the Catholic Theological Union.    As member of the Catholic Theological Union since 1968  Pawlikowski was appointed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council in 1980 by then-President Jimmy Carter. He was subsequently re-appointed by Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. As of 2008, he chaired the Council's Subcommittee on Church Relations and served on its Executive Committee, the Committee on Conscience, and Academic Committee. He has been awarded: the Raoul Wallenberg Humanitarian Award for Distinguished Contributions to Religion, Distinguished Service Award from the American Jewish Committee (Chicago) and Army Cross of Merit for Distinguished Service to the Polish Nation and from the Republic of Poland. He is President Emeritus of the International Council of Christians and Jews

Encounter between Hindus and Christians in Britain

A One-Day Seminar in Inter Faith Week 2011

The day will include three lectures by 
 Canon Dr Andrew Wingate,  
formerly joint Chair of the Hindu Christian National Forum. 
The lectures will be on three Bhakti (devotional) movements
with responses by three Hindu speakers

The seminar is free, but donations towards the cost of the Indian lunch are welcome (suggestion £10)
